I live in James City County, Berkeley District. My husband and I moved here because we both love the Williamsburg area so much. We have spent many. Grand Illimination listening to the fife and drum corps and watching the spectacilar fireworks. Every season is beautiful.
I am a retired school teacher and have taught in many school districts. I retired from the Department of Defense Dependent Schools in 2012. I taught in the Phillipines, Korea, and Germany. It was a wonderful job. It also gave me a great appreciation for our military and their families.
I graduated from Brigham Young University with a Bachelor degree in Education. I earned a Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Development from Michigan State University. I attended school at Old Dominion University and have a second Master’s in Special Education.
I met my husband in Korea. I was teaching school in Seoul and he was a logistics plan officer for Headquarters, United Nations Command/United States Forces Korea. He was in the Navy…the only blue uniform in a sea of green.
My husband and I have 7 children. We think they are pretty amazing. Our two oldest daughters are Korean. One works for Marriott as a chef. The other is a nurse and is now attending school to become a nurse practitioner.
Our two sons, Jared and Ben, have both served in the Army, Our youngest just was discharged and will work in North Carolina. Two of our other daughters, Corey and Bess, are school teachers. Bess has returned to nursing school. Our youngest, Sarah, is going to school to become a midwife. All but one of our daughters married a militaty member.
I became interested in running for school board because I have continued to be concerned about where education is headed.
